Our approach to screen time
Make room for what comes after “screens off.”
Our focus isn’t simply on putting a device away. It’s on the family life you want to make room for: shared interests, everyday conversations, and things to look forward to beyond the screen.
We want to make space for a conversation about screens that includes children—without turning it into a judgment of your parenting.
Beyond the off button
We believe a conversation about screen time should also be a conversation about what the family wants more of—not only what it wants less of.
A voice in the conversation
Children have their own interests, questions, and frustrations. Our approach starts with making space to hear them.
Your family, your starting point
The goal isn’t to copy someone else’s perfect routine. It’s to explore a direction that makes sense for the people and the day in front of you.

What do I get, and in what format?
A digital kit: printable PDF pages for the edition you choose. Nothing is shipped. After checkout you get access to the files to print at home. [DA CONFERMARE: modalità di consegna, file inclusi e numero di pagine]
Which edition should I choose?
Choose by age. The Kids edition is for ages 7-10, with more coloring and you guiding along. The Teens edition is for ages 11-14, with more reflection, choice, and privacy. If you have a child in each age group, the bundle includes both editions.
Do I need a printer?
The pages are made to print at home on a regular printer, in color or in black and white. You’ll also want pens or pencils, scissors for the cut-out cards, and card stock if you have it. [DA CONFERMARE: versione a risparmio d’inchiostro e campi compilabili]
Will it print on US Letter and A4 paper?
The kit is planned in both US Letter and A4 sizes, so you can print it wherever you live. [DA CONFERMARE: formati Letter e A4]
How do I get started?
Open the start-here page first. It walks you through the first few minutes and points you to the first-week plan. [DA CONFERMARE: contenuto finale]
How much time does the first week take?
With the Kids edition, a few minutes on most days: a short start on day 1, quick diary notes on days 2 through 5, one conversation on day 6, and writing your agreement on day 7. The Teens edition spreads the diary over two weeks before the conversation. You can always go at your own pace. [DA CONFERMARE: tempi]
More questions (7)
Do you collect any information about my child?
No. The pages are for your family. Nothing your child writes or draws is collected or sent to us.
Can I use it with more than one child?
Yes. You can print the diary, the tracker, and the “How was that?” pages again for each child in your family. For children in different age groups, the bundle includes both editions. [DA CONFERMARE: condizioni d’uso]
Will it reduce my child’s screen time?
The kit doesn’t promise a set result. It gives your family a way to talk, agree, and try new things together; what you decide is up to you.
What language is the kit in?
American English.
Is this a substitute for a professional?
No. The Screen-Time Kit is an educational tool for families. It does not replace professional advice. If you have concerns about your child, please talk with a qualified professional.
Is Big Brave Life a new brand?
Yes. The brand is new; our team’s children’s publishing experience isn’t. Before Big Brave Life, we published children’s books and journals on Amazon.
Can I see inside before choosing?
Use the previews on this page to take a closer look at the material before deciding whether it’s right for your family. [DA CONFERMARE: pubblicare solo con anteprime reali]
How families used the Screen-Time Kit
We used the first conversation page at the kitchen table and it actually got us talking.
I printed two pages on a Sunday morning and we filled them in over breakfast. My son is eight and he liked having a say instead of being told. The instructions were short enough that I didn't have to read ahead or prepare anything. We talked about what we'd do on the afternoons we'd normally be on the tablet, and he came up with most of it himself.
Screens had turned into the thing we argued about most in our house, and honestly I was tired of being the one who says no. What I liked about this kit is that it doesn't start from the device. The first pages we used asked what we each enjoy doing, and my daughter wrote down baking and roller skating before she wrote anything about her iPad. That gave us somewhere to go. We did one page after school on a Tuesday, sitting on the floor because that's where she wanted to be, and another one in the car on the way to her cousin's. The car one worked better than I expected since neither of us had to look at the other while we talked. The adult pages are written plainly and don't lecture you, which I appreciated. I did read them first so I knew roughly where each activity was heading. A few of the prompts were a little old for my six-year-old, so we skipped them and went back later. Three weeks in we still pull a page out now and then rather than working straight through, and that seems to suit us. It feels less like a program and more like something to talk around.
The activity pages are clear and my two did them without complaining, which is saying something. My one wish is a single printable page for the adult, something I could stick on the fridge with the three or four questions on it, instead of going back to the PDF on my phone each time. There's plenty here for the kids; I'd just like a little more for me.
