- Day 6 · Use: when a plan changes, reach for one script card; later, add a line to the moments log.

The Flexible-Thinking Kit is an educational tool for families. It does not replace professional advice. [DA CONFERMARE: testo della nota da far rivedere]
Our approach to flexible thinking
Make room for another way forward.
A changed plan can be disappointing. A different suggestion can be hard to welcome. Our approach to flexible thinking makes room for those feelings while inviting children and adults to explore another possibility.
The goal isn’t to make a child agree with everything. It’s to create space for questions, different perspectives, and something else to try.
Another option, not a label
We don’t want to define a child by a difficult moment. We want to make room for what they might explore next.
Feelings still have a place
Considering another possibility doesn’t have to mean pretending the first disappointment never happened. Our approach leaves room for both.
Something to explore together
We see this as a shared invitation: listen to each other’s perspective, consider an alternative, and stay curious about what comes next.

What do I get, and in what format?
A digital kit: printable PDF pages, with a part for you and a set of pages for your child’s edition. Nothing is shipped. After checkout you get access to the files to print at home. [DA CONFERMARE: modalità di consegna, file inclusi e numero di pagine]
Which ages is it for?
There are two editions: Kids, for ages 7-10, and Teens, for ages 11-14. The adult part is the same in both.
Which edition should I choose?
Choose by your child’s age. The Kids edition has story-like pages to color, circle, and choose. The Teens edition has more writing, more choices, and a plan the teen keeps private. If you have a child in each age group, the bundle includes one adult part and both sets of child pages.
Do I need a printer?
The pages are made to print at home on a regular printer, in color or in black and white. Card stock helps for the script cards and posters. [DA CONFERMARE: versione a risparmio d’inchiostro e campi compilabili]
Will it print on US Letter and A4 paper?
The kit is planned in both US Letter and A4 sizes, so you can print it wherever you live. [DA CONFERMARE: formati Letter e A4]
Do I need to read everything before we start?
No. Start with the start-here page, which takes about ten minutes. The guide is meant to be read in short pieces, one scenario at a time. [DA CONFERMARE: contenuto finale]
More questions (9)
Does a grown-up need to be involved?
Yes. The kit is made to be used together: you lead the conversation, and your child tries the activity pages with you. Teens can work through their pages on their own and share their plan if they want to.
Is this a substitute for a professional?
No. The Flexible-Thinking Kit is an educational tool for families, not a treatment, and it does not replace professional advice. If you have concerns about your child, please talk with a qualified professional.
Will the hard moments go away?
The kit doesn’t promise a set result. Plans will still change, and feelings will still be real. It gives your family words to use and steps to try, together.
Can I use it with more than one child?
Yes. You can print the activity pages, the moments log, and the talk-it-over pages again for each child in your family. For children in different age groups, the bundle includes both sets of child pages. [DA CONFERMARE: condizioni d’uso]
Can I share a page with a grandparent or a teacher?
Yes. The note for a second adult is a single page made to share with the people who look after your child, so everyone uses the same words. [DA CONFERMARE: condizioni d’uso]
Do you collect any information about my child?
No. The pages are for your family. Nothing your child writes or draws is collected or sent to us.
What language is the kit in?
American English.
Is Big Brave Life a new brand?
Yes. The brand is new; our team’s children’s publishing experience isn’t. Before Big Brave Life, we published children’s books and journals on Amazon.
Can I see inside before choosing?
Use the previews on this page to take a closer look at the material before deciding whether it’s right for your family. [DA CONFERMARE: pubblicare solo con anteprime reali]
Experiences with the Flexible-Thinking Kit
The "what else could we do" card is the one we reach for most. Simple and useful.
Our Saturday plans fall apart a lot, and that used to mean a rough hour for everyone. We went through one of the activities together on a quiet evening, not in the middle of a hard moment, and that was the right call. Now my daughter knows what the pages are and she'll sometimes fetch them herself. The adult notes gave me words I didn't have.
What sold me on this kit is that half of it is written for me and not for my kid. I've read plenty of advice that assumes I'll be calm and well-rested in the moment a plan falls through, and I'm usually neither. The adult pages here are short, practical, and they don't pretend the disappointment isn't real. We started with the activity about swapping one plan for another, and my son and I did it at the kitchen table on a Thursday when nothing was going wrong. That mattered: trying it cold in the middle of an actual meltdown would have gone badly. He drew his version of the pool trip that got canceled, and then drew the thing we did instead, and he was the one who said the second drawing wasn't bad. We've used the same pages a few times since. On a car ride to his grandmother's he brought up one of the prompts on his own, which surprised me. Printing worked fine on US Letter and I didn't have to fiddle with scaling. I'd say read the adult section before you hand anything to your child, because the activities make a lot more sense once you've seen where they're pointing. It's material to work through together, not something to leave with a kid.
Clear material and the two sides of it, mine and my child's, are easy to tell apart. What I'd want is a short one-page version of the conversation examples, sized to fold and keep in a bag, since the moments we need them aren't usually at home. Everything is there in the full PDF, it's just more than I can scroll through standing in a parking lot.
